Is technology causing Alzheimer’s?
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I beg to differ. The more things change is just more of a chance to forget the most important things.
The question is, what is it that is causing memory loss? You realize that we all are all looking forward to a future of Alzheimer's. There will be no getting around it. It will happen to me and to you.
The next question you may be asking is, "How can I keep
this from becoming to pass?"
The answer is to throw away all technology. There can
be no other answer.
Let's go back, back a hundred years or so.
Life was simple. All you had to remember to do was feed the animals, eat, sleep, go to the outhouse and stay away from your sister. (it was against the law then, too) There were no distractions (maybe your cousin) and not many things you had to remember. So if you do a little research, you will find that Alzheimer's became prevalent around the influx of the technological boom.
Now, believe it or not the human brain can only hold so much information, stuff if you will. When you get too much stuff trying to stay up their, some things will inevitably get lost. There is no way around it.
Why is technology the culprit you ask? Think of it like this. And I can only speak from my experiences. Back in the day we had only albums and 8 tracks. They were simple mechanisms for replaying your favorite tunes. The buttons were few and the enjoyment was high, in more ways than one.
On the average all you had was an off/on button. Simple. Concise. Nothing hard there, right?
Now we have the CD. Yes the Circular Devil, and it's player
of many buttons.
FF- with records just move the needle what do you think the grooves was
for?
REW - same as above
STOP - Take the needle off (simple right? This is a useless button for
any type of player. Just open the CD player, right? No you don't want to
do that, because of the laser. Great more technology crap I going to have
to remember.
CUE - same as FF and nobody knew what the heck this one meant
..and yet that is only five I listed. How many more are going to be thrust upon me. Not only that but the buttons are smaller. So as you get older and your eyes get badder (good use of that word, huh?) they do make the buttons smaller. Now you have to try and remember where the buttons are and what they are for. Cause you sure cant read them any more.
Therefore, you lose some of your capacity to retain the more important things in life, just so you can listen to your Helen Reddy CD, that you once bought a 45 for, then the album, then the 8 track, then the cassette and now the freaking CD. And because of those little, technologically advanced buttons, you have forgotten that you have bought that same song four other times.
So there you have it. Proof that technology is causing
Alzheimer's.

What about DAT?
While it may be true that Alzheimer's became prevalent
around the same time as the technological boom. It’s also true that people
started living longer about that time. Maybe natural selection kept the
"weaker" ones from reaching the age where their weaknesses would be exposed.
We do live in a society where every effort is made to give everybody a
equal chance. We have drugs that can make u smarter
(if you don't take to many of the blue ones) But back in the day
you had to be on it - or die. We now have laser r-k surgery to correct
poor vision. But way back when these issues were handled by t-rex.
People who could not make significant contributions to
the gene pool became lunch.
Image the near sighted caveman standing in the middle
clearing wondering what all of the commotion is about. Why is there a large
shadow over me? What is that hot stinky smell? What is licking me?
nomo caveman
I think it is simply that people are living longer. This
is why we have more mental illness.
Think about it. The problem is not only Alzheimer's.
There are a whole slew of problems, which are rooted in the ability to
process mental energy and images. Undisciplined children, inappropriate
behavior at work, school shootings, work shootings, robbery, murder all
kinds of mayhem. All rooted in screwed up psychoanalytical processes. I
believe the problem lies in the fact that we have more people in the world
than have ever been alive at one time. Consequently all of these people
must eat. If they eat, they must fart. I believe that the atmosphere is
become fartified to the point that people can no longer think properly,
this of course going to effect children and old people first. Also, those
under stress will be affected quickly. It all falls into place if you just
think about it. One of the first things we need to do as a nation is address
this problem and find a way to bring the fart index down. Then and only
then can we reclaim our standing as a fart free leading edge civilized
nation. In the meantime, if you find yourself face to face with a person
who appears close to the edge. Squeeze your cheeks and hold your gas.
